British and Irish fans of Turkish rock will get the chance to see Yüksek Sadakat later this month. The band will be playing exclusive dates at the 229 Club in London on 26 July, followed by The Button Factory in Dublin two days later.
The band, first formed back in 1997 by Kutlu Özmakinacı, a former music magazine editor, were initially called “Filinta”, but changed their name to “Yüksek Sadakat”, which means ‘high fidelity’ (Hi-Fi) in Turkish, in 2004.
They broke through in early 2006 with their debut self-titled album and have gone on to record memorable hits such as Belki Üstümüzden Bir Kuş Geçer, Pervane, Kafile, and Haydi Gel İçelim. Their last studio album was Rengarenk (2021).
Özmakinacı, the band’s bassist and songwriter, has helped shaped the band’s sound, fusing pop and rock with powerful beats utilising Turkish instruments, keyboard and guitar solos, and they regularly sellout big arenas across Turkiye and beyond.
They represented Turkiye in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 with the song “Live It Up”.
Yüksek Sadakat’s current line-up includes two of the band’s original members: Kutlu Özmakinacı (bass & backing vocals), Uğur Onatkut (keyboard), along with Kenan Vural (vocals), Serkan Özgen (electric guitar), and Sefa Deniz Alemdar (drummer).
