Shakespearean classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream reimagined in new Turkish production at the Arcola

The supernatural madness of Shakespeare’s enduring classic is brought to life at the seaside with a cast of Turkish characters. A world of chaos ensues in a story brimming with love and lust, as friendships as tested and magical worlds explored.

This radical adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is translated by Can Yücel, a popular Turkish poet. Yücel’s rich colloquial interpretation Bahar Noktasıpromises chaos, madness, friendship, love and joy, with a Turkish twist!

The play is performed by Arcola Ala Turka – one of the UK’s leading Turkish language performance collectives.

Since their first production in 2001, Arcola Ala Turka has continued to create theatre that is politically-charged, moving and daring.

It gives an important theatrical voice to the Turkish-speaking communities in London, often through performances that reflect on identity in contemporary Britain and Turkey.

This five day run starts on Sunday 23 February. Catch it while you can.

Pay What You Can tickets are available for first performance – only available in person at the Box Office from 6pm on the day of the performance.
