Filmmaker Cey Sesiguzel is seeking £450,000 to expand Two Fresh Studios, an independent film company in London that is focused on stories with “Mediterranean roots and international appeal”.
The British Turkish Cypriot filmmaker presented the company’s plans to a group of angel investors and business leaders earlier this week. Two Fresh Studios aims to produce its own films and acquire and distribute selected work from Cyprus, Türkiye, Greece and the wider Mediterranean.
The venture grew out of Sesiguzel’s experience producing and independently distributing The Divided Island, an acclaimed documentary about the Cyprus conflict. He said the process made him think more closely about who owns a film’s rights and how filmmakers reach their audiences.
“Two Fresh Studios has been built around answering those questions,” Sesiguzel said. “We want to create a studio that can develop and own original films, acquire great films from the region, and build the infrastructure to take those stories directly to audiences around the world.”
Sesiguzel is currently working on his debut feature film project, Green Line, a love story set in 1950s Cyprus. The company is also developing The Last Notification, a documentary exploring childhood in the digital age.
Two Fresh Studios says the investment would help it expand its slate of projects, distribution work and team. Discussions with investors and strategic partners are continuing.
