One of London’s premiere music venues, the Jazz Café, has acquired a fine reputation for staging a brilliant array of Turkish artists and events. In June they add another, as they pay homage to the masters of Turkish psychedelic rock in a new night called ‘Giants of Anatolia’. Curated and promoted by Turquazz Culture, this stunning musical journey will feature the sounds of rock legends Barış Manço, Erkin Koray and many more. A live band will perform their classic hits, giving a contemporary edge that will “transcend the boundaries of past and present as we delve deep into this unique genre”.

Line-up

Dilan Onat – vocals

Paşa Çelik – electric guitar

Manifest MPU 2026

Cem Tuncer – bass guitar

Eren Akyalçın – keyboard

Burak Ersöz – drums

Umut Ekiz – rebab baglama

Also on the line-up is DJ Burak Cetindag (Brainwashed /Turquoise Dream – London). The London-based DJ has been spinning records for over 20 years. He started out at Turkey’s first independent rock radio station in Istanbul and has since graced the decks of various underground clubs across the globe. For Giants of Anatolia, Cetindag will be warming up the crowd with rare vinyl gems from the world of Turkish rock, funk and jazz. According to Turquazz’s director Batu Akyol, their debut concert at the Jazz Café is the first of many events on their cultural platform as they seek to “introduce and tell the stories of many important artists whom we call the Giants of Anatolia”, not just in Britain, but “all over the world.” It promises to be an epic evening. Whether you’re a Turkish rock aficionado wanting a trip down memory lane, or fancy indulging in some spicy 60s and 70s Anatolian fuzz-psychedelic rock, get yourself to the Jazz Café on Thursday 9 June!
