If you are curious about history or Cyprus, the Cezire Association is organising a fascinating afternoon of talks about the ancestors of present-day Turkish Cypriots. Four speakers will present different aspects of Turkish and Islamic influence on the island before the Ottoman conquest of 1570-71.
The panel comprises Dr Gökçe Yükselen Abdurrazak Peler, the Vice Dean of Erciyes University in Kayseri Turkey, who is leading expert in Turkish dialects and literature, journalist Ertan Karpazlı (TRT World, The New Turkey, Medium, T-VINE), researcher and Cezire Association head Mustafa Kureyşi, and Husayn Hashim El Bakayi the founder and chair of the Cyprus Islamic Association.
Cezire Association is hosting this historical seminar in partnership with the Turkish Cypriot Community Association. The event takes place on 8 February and is free and open to the public – see below for full details.
