Rising-star, stand-up comedian Kaan Sekban comes to London with his hilarious sideways take on working in the financial and corporate world – which he did for 10 years.
The 35-year-old from Istanbul has rapidly attracted a large fan base, including 189,000 followers on Instagram, thanks to his sketches and shows full of witty observations about the world around him. His warm exchanges with audiences demonstrate not only that he is one of the sharpest minds in the Turkish comedy business, but also one of the nicest.
His meteoric rise can be best explained in a recent post, where Sekban explains how on his first visit to Bursa as a stand-up last June, “there were just 36 people” including himself at his show, but they “still had a lot of fun”. Fifteen months on, he returns to Bursa and, turning the camera on the audience, shows the city’s Ataturk Cultural Centre packed with hundreds of people.
Earlier this week, Sekban performed in front of a 2,500 capacity audience at the Zorlu Centre in Istanbul. He next travels to New York, before heading to the UK at the end of October to make his London debut at the Islington Assembly Room. The event is jointly staged by Piu Entertainment UK and Vigor Events Istanbul.
