The Communication Workers Union’s North West Region is hosting an online event with bestselling author Sibel Hodge as part of its Women of Today theme.
The evening event, open to the public, will take its cue from Hodge’s novella Trafficked: The Diary of a Sex Slave, with the author giving insights into how the book came and its hard-hitting contents came about.
Inspired by real victims’ accounts and research into the sex trafficking underworld, Trafficked: The Diary of a Sex Slave has been listed as one of the top forty books about human rights by Accredited Online Colleges.
The book review will lead into an online workshop centred on issues raised in Hodge’s book.
The event, on Tuesday 4 August, is primarily aimed at women. It in line with the CWU’s efforts to promote greater involvement of women in discussions affecting them, and to aid them in becoming more assertive and confident.
The event is free to attend, but prior registration is needed. The first 50 CWU members to register will receive a Kindle version of Trafficked: The Diary of a Sex Slave for free.
