Tickets for Turkish indie music star Gaye Su Akyol’s upcoming concert at Kings Place are selling fast. Part of the week-long Songlines Encounters Festival international soundscape, the performance will be the singer-songwriter’s first UK concert after releasing her unforgettable new album Anadolu Ejderi (Anatolian Dragon) late last year.
The Istanbul-based artist let rip on the state of Turkiye in her first full-length release in four years with her daring political lyrics in this “multi-genre unleashing of Akyol’s psyche” that fuses “Anatolian Pop Folk, Turkish Psychedelia, stoner rock, post-punk and more.”
Everything on Anadolu Ejderi breathes fire. The album represents “an awakening, a transformation. The Anatolian Dragon rising from the ashes.”
