A special night with Kurdish singer Mem Ararat – live at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane

Mem Ararat is a voice that resonates deeply with Kurdish people the world over. Since his acclaimed debut album Quling Ewr û Baran (Crane, Cloud, and Rain) a decade ago, the singer from Mardin, southeast Turkiye, has captivated the hearts and souls of local and international audiences with his beautiful voice and blend of traditional Kurdish and contemporary music, coupled with evocative lyrics that takes listeners on a mesmerising journey.

Like many Kurds in Turkiye, Ararat’s family has been forced to migrate between eastern and western Turkiye multiple times due to political problems in the country. These struggles, as well as the hopes and dreams of the Kurdish people are reflected in his music.

Ararat’s follow-up albums, which include Kurdîka, Xewna Bajarekî (A City’s Dream), Niştiman (Homeland), Pesna Evînê (Ode to Love), and Keskesor (Rainbow), have firmly established his unique style and talent, while earning him a significant place in world music.

Later this year, the 41-year-old singer-songwriter will be coming to London for a special live performance at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Friday, 15 November 2024. It promises to be an unforgettable evening celebrating the richness of Kurdish culture.

You can listen to Mem Ararat’s music on music platforms such as YouTube and Spotify. Ticket details are below.
