If you are an artist of Turkish heritage that is based in Britain, the organisers of the annual Turkish Community Art Exhibition would like to hear from you!
Now in its third year, and jointly organised by the Yunus Emre Enstitüsü – London and the Turkish Consulate in London, the exhibition “aims to bring together the artworks of UK based Turkish artists.”
This fantastic showcase includes creative works by both professional and amateur artists of all ages. Displays from the past two years have included paintings, sculptures, ceramic art, miniatures, and small installations.
Those wishing to be considered for the exhibition should submit their artwork by the end of January.
In the first week of February, a jury comprising of the UK director of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Dr Mehmet Karakuş, the Turkish Consul General to London Bekir Utku Atahan, and established Turkish artists will have the difficult task of reviewing and selecting the artworks which will go on display.
All artists featured in the month-long exhibition will be awarded a certificate by the jury.
The 3rd Turkish Community Art Exhibition opens on 15 February. Unlike previous years, this year’s event will be hosted entirely online due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
While it will be sad there is no physical gathering with the featured artists and members of the public at the Yunus Emre Enstitüsü’s Maple Street venue, the organisers believe the online display will be viewed by many more people.
