Turkish Airlines has picked up seven awards at this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards. They include Europe’s Best Airline and the World’s Best Business Class Catering.
Known as the ‘aviation Oscars’, Skytrax held its annual awards event at the luxury Fairmont Windsor Park, near London and Heathrow Airport, on Monday night. In total some 80 awards were presented.
The winners were determined by customer votes, with the global ranking body for the air industry surveying more than 21 million customers from 100 countries about 350 airlines during September 2023 and May 2024.
Turkish Airlines again lifted the Best Airline in Europe title. It has won the award for nine years running. The airline was also named the World’s Best Business Class Onboard Catering.
The airline also won in five other categories: Best Airline in Southern Europe, Best Business Class in Southern Europe, Best Business Class Onboard Catering in Europe, Best Economy Class in Europe, and Best Economy Class Onboard Catering in Europe.
Turkiye’s flagship carrier remains in the top ten Best Airlines in the World, though it slips down one place to seventh.
Qatar was crowned the World’s Best Airline, while last year’s winner Singapore Airlines was runner-up, but only just. The votes for the top two airlines were so close that a recount was needed.
The rest of the World Top 10 was Dubai’s Emirates airline in third, Japan’s ANA All Nippon Airways in fourth, Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific in fifth, Japan Airlines in sixth, Turkish Airlines is seventh, Taiwan’s EVA Air in eighth, Air France in ninth and Swiss International Airlines in 10th.
