Duman have confirmed their sole London date as the band embark on a small European spring tour in April and May of this year, that will take in venues in Germany and the Netherlands. The band will be playing Indigo at the 02 on Wednesday, 26 April.
One of Turkiye’s biggest bands, Duman (Turkish for smoke) have been a shaping Turkish popular music for over two decades with their unique sounds that combine elements of traditional Turkish folk music with modern grunge and rock.
Founded in 1999, the quartet features Kaan Tangöze on vocals and guitar, Ari Barokas on bass guitar and backing vocals, Batuhan Mutlugil on lead guitar and backing vocals, and Mehmet Demirdelen who replaced Cengiz Baysal on drums back in 2016.
The band can shift mood and gear in an instant, moving from the melancholic to upbeat in the same song, with plenty of guitar riffs in between.
Some of their fan favourites include Senden Daha Güzel [More Beautiful Than You] and Haberin Yok Ölüyorum [You Have No Idea I’m Dying], Elleri Ellerime [Hands on My Hands], Aman Aman [Oh, Oh), and Köprüaltı [Under the Bridge] from their debut album Eski Köprünün Altında [Under the Old Bridge, 1999].
Expect a smattering of their biggest tunes and more recent hits when they play live in London later this month.
