This year’s East End Film Festival includes a Turkish strand programmed by award-winning director Tolga Karaçelik, but it’s not all about film.
In keeping with their 2016 Turkish theme, those creatively diverse EEFF peeps are also staging a fantastic photography exhibition of Istanbul at sunrise.
Opening tomorrow at Spitalfields Market, this exhibition showcases a selection of shots of the historic district of Sultanahmet, taken by renowned Californian photographer Anthony Epes one May morning.
Usually, this area would be thronging with people, yet at 4am he found the streets surprisingly empty, allowing him to capture the streets and views in their majestic, misty-morning glory.
The stunning images will be included in Epes’ forthcoming series of books called Cities at Dawn.
The ISTANBUL AT DAWN exhibition has been created with the support of Spitalfields Estate and is on show for a week in the main market area, opposite Urban Decay.

Venue address: Market Street at Spitalfields Market (opposite Urban Decay, 43 Brushfield Street), London E1 6AA
