Another chance to learn Ottoman Turkish in London

Later this month, the Yunus Emre Institute London commences a new short course in Ottoman Turkish. The intermediate level classes are for those with a basic understanding of the language. The course will run weekly for 14 weeks, with two hours of instruction every Wednesday evening. Students should register by no later than Tuesday 21st February 2017 to be admitted on to the course. The £140 course fee includes class materials.

About course instructor Ayşe Gökçen Yücel:

An experienced lecturer of Ottoman Turkish and Palaeography, Ottoman Turkish Course_poster_Feb17 has been teaching Ottoman Turkish at the Yunus Emre Institute London since 2012. Outside of her teaching, she works as an archive specialist helping with the classification of Ottoman archival documents in both Turkey and the United Kingdom. Her research interest lies broadly in the field of Ottoman history and particularly in the study of the Ottoman manuscript. During her undergraduate and graduate courses at Ankara University, she was taught by several prominent scholars in the field. She is currently finishing her second Masters Degree at the Aga Khan University London.
