Now in its eighth year, the World Halal Food Festival prides itself as being “the world’s biggest and best halal food festival”.
Taking place over two days at the London Stadium – usually the home of West Ham Football Club – in East London, the festival is perfect for foodies who seek out the best flavours from around the world.
The two-day showcase boasts diverse street food from all four corners of the planet, such as American and Afghan, Uzbek and Turkish, through to German, Japanese, Thai and Mexican, all made with halal ingredients, so no pork or alcohol, and the meat used should be from animals killed in accordance with Islamic rules.
Alongside the halal food stalls is the Dessert Zone, for those wanting to indulge in “irresistible sweet treats”, from cakes and pastries to ice creams.
There are also cooking demonstrations courtesy of main sponsor Tariq Halal, a shopping bazaar boasting everything from gifts and goodies to hijabs and homeware, a kids’ zone and live entertainment, ensuring everyone has a great day out.
Bake Off star Nadiya Hussain and music hit maker Naughty Boy are among the celebrities and chefs who will be doing a live demonstration in the Tariq Halal Cookery Theatre, which is hosted by TV chef and restaurateur Shelina Permalloo.
More details are online, along with details of entrance fees, which start at £15 per person per day. Food and drink at the festival cost extra.
