A pioneer of rock music in Turkey and one of the founders of the Anatolian rock genre, Barış Manço is the best-selling, most awarded and most influential Turkish artist of all time.
As a recording artist, Manço’s songs were translated into multiple languages including English, French, German, Japanese, Greek, Italian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Hebrew, Urdu and Arabic, helping to make him one of Turkey’s first international stars.
In recent years, there has been a renaissance of the Turkish psychedelic rock sound with many more people from around the world discovering Manço’s incredible repertoire. Among his big hits are Dağlar Dağlar, Hal Hal, and his 1977 double A-side Nick the Chopper and Lonely Man.
2019 will mark the 20th anniversary of the passing of Manço, who died on 1 February 1999. To pay tribute to this iconic star, London-based Turkish artist and fellow psychedelic Djanan Turan will be heading a special band who will play his best loved songs in a 90-minute live performance.
