Pegasus Airlines has announced it is resuming international flights. It follows a suspension of nearly 3 months to comply with government-imposed travel restrictions to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
The low-cost carrier started flights to Germany at the weekend, and will be gradually adding more European destinations from 15 June 2020, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Switzerland and The Netherlands.
For UK passengers, the good news is Pegasus will be operating a daily flight between London Stansted and Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen from 16 June, which will run until the end of the month. There will also be a one-time direct flight between London Stansted and Izmir on 15 June 2020.
Pegasus has also announced two flights to Ercan Airport in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus (TRNC) in June. These are open to TRNC citizens and others who have residency, work or student permits for the TRNC.
The 17 June flight will be between Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen and Ercan, while the 18 June flight will carry passengers between Ankara and Ercan.
Pegasus’ July flight schedules, and additional destinations will be revealed later this month, in line with guidelines and approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in Turkey.
Flight bookings can be made online. However, passengers are advised to be aware of the travel restrictions at airports and also at the country of destination, and to ensure they satisfy any country entry criteria before booking.
For passengers arriving in Turkey, health checks will be carried out at the point they enter the country. PCR tests will be performed free of charge in cases where symptoms are identified during the health check.
The Turkish Ministry of Health requires all passengers entering Turkey to undergo 14-days of self-isolation in their homes or at a designated address.
For those flying to North Cyprus, quarantine in a government authorised-centre for 14 days is a mandatory requirement of entry into the country. For all non-TRNC citizens other than students, a payment of 4,400 TL (approximately £510) to cover meals and accommodation is also due.
