If you’re in Manchester and keen to learn more about Turkey’s stunning Iznik tiles, this is your chance!
Award winning pattern artist Lizzie Hobbs, who draws freehand designs inspired by Asian and the Middle Eastern heritage, and who has had her work featured in Vogue Magazine and exhibited in the V&A Museum, will be giving artists and art lovers alike the chance to explore Turkish patterns and to create their own Turkish tile during a three-hour course at Cass Art Manchester.
The course gives a good grounding in the different types of patterns originating from Turkey, with a particular focus on tiles commonly used in mosques and derived from Ottoman motifs. The second part of this short course tutors attendees on how to draw biomorphic patterns freehand, before decorating their ready-fired tile using ceramic pens, so they are ready to take home.
There are limited places on the course, so early registration is highly advised.
