Turkish pop star Tarkan has wed his long-term girlfriend Pınar Dilek on Friday. The news came via an exclusive story in yesterday’s Hürriyet – Turkey’s biggest daily.
Only close family and friends witnessed the couple tie the knot in a simple ceremony at Tarkan’s Tarabya villa. It’s expected the couple will hold a big wedding party in the days ahead.
The two have been dating for the past five years. They became an item when Pınar – a big Tarkan fan – met her idol after one of his concerts in Germany. Their friendly connection quickly turned to romance.
The newly-weds were both born in Germany. 30-year-old Pınar was raised in Duisburg. Her mother is originally from Elazığ and her father from Şanlıurfa. Little else is known about the lady who has stolen Tarkan’s heart and broken those of millions of others around the world.
The Turkish heartthrob was born in October 1973 and grew up in a small town called Alzey. In 1986, his family moved back to Turkey where the talented young singer was able to pursue his love of music. During his high school days, Tarkan met record label boss Mehmet Söğütoğlu, who promptly signed the budding star to his İstanbul Plak label.
Tarkan’s first album – Yine Sensiz – was released in 1992 and his debut single, Kıl Oldum, hit the number one spot in Turkey. The eagerly-awaited follow-up album Aacayipsin in 1994 firmly established Tarkan’s pop star credentials, while his third, Ölürüm Sana (1997) became one of Turkey’s biggest-selling albums of all time, with its opening track Şımarık becoming a number 1 hit all over the world, confirming his place as a multi-million selling mega-star.
Earlier this year, Tarkan released his ninth studio album Ahde Vefa on his own Hitt label, which veered away from the star’s usual pop offering, to deliver 13 Turkish classical music songs instead.
T-VINE wishes Tarkan and his lovely new bride Pınar lifelong health and happiness.
