Saban Kazim is half English, half Turkish Cypriot, and 100% Lewisham. The South Londoner has been gigging since 2010, performing at venues including The Comedy Store, The Comedy Cafe, Top Secret Comedy, Downstairs At The Kings Head and The Backyard Comedy Club to name a few.
He has picked up a fair few accolades and awards along the way. He’s a five times winner of The Comedy Cafe’s New Act night, and also the winner of the Comedy Store Gong 2014. He’s been a finalist of Bath New Comedian 2019 and of the Not So New Comedian of The Year 2023.
Saban was also shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award, which aired on BBC Radio 2 & BBC 4 Extra.
Saban’s stand-up style is described as ‘wacky’ with light-hearted tales about everyday life and cultural quirks, as he draws on his London and Turkish Cypriot roots, and he remains Lewisham’s finest ambassador.
